Mountain route in the heart of the Pollino National Park, characterized by hard climbs but also pleasant descents: suitable for trained cyclists.
The roads involved have little vehicular traffic; in some places, due to exposure to the cold of winter and the hot sun of summer, they have holes and dirt sections. Pay attention, in shaded areas with dense tree cover, to the road surface which could be slippery especially in the early hours of the day.
The recommended period is from April to early November, in winter there is snow.
The elevation profile is outlined by uphill stretches in the first 10 km, from an altitude of about 900 m to the highest peak, 1425 m in the Acquatremola area.
Then the road winds its way through gentle descents and easy climbs up to Rotonda, the administrative headquarters of the Pollino National Park.
