Not an easy path, given the presence of climbs even if they are quite pedalable.
Almost non-existent traffic except in the vicinity of the regional capital.
Given the elevation profile, which is quite high, the route is not recommended in the middle of winter but fully accessible even in the height of summer given the tree cover present. The itinerary takes place almost entirely within important protected areas: the Regional Reserve of Lake Pantano di Pignola and the Appennino Lucano – Val d’Agri and Lagonegrese National Park. The stage offers a variety of incredible landscapes, passing from the Pignola area, of great importance for the aquatic fauna and a resting place for birds during migrations, to the beautiful wooded expanses of Sellata Pierfaone in the Abriola area. Beeches, firs and oaks accompany the cyclist along the way. The itinerary allows you to connect to other itineraries such as those of the Lucanian Dolomites, the Pertusillo dam and the Grumentum area.
